Ramen 101 Review
August 24, 2018
Ramen 101, which opened a few months ago, specializes in its namesake: ramen, a warm Japanese delicacy. Traditional styles of ramen are served, such as tonkotsu and miso. Each ramen dish comes with yellow noodles, slices of meat, runny eggs, vegetables and broth. Diners can decide how spicy they want their ramen to be and they can also add more toppings. One dish I tried was the tonkotsu ramen. I got it with no spice but I recommend adding some spice to it because the broth was bland by itself. However, the noodles were very soft and there was a good amount of vegetables. It was a very fulfilling meal.
Besides the ramen, poke bowls are also served. Poke bowls come with a choice of fish over white rice and vegetables. If you’re still hungry or want a small snack for later, you can order side dishes such as edamame and spam musubi.
One of the best things about Ramen 101 is that it’s nearby. You don’t have to drive all the way to San Francisco or Santa Rosa to get good ramen. The prices are relatively cheaper than most ramen places. On weekends, it might be hard to get seats in the restaurant but Ramen 101 is worth a try. I definitely recommend going to the restaurant’s “happy hour” Mondays through Thursdays from 3 p.m to 5 p.m. Everything on their menu becomes 20 percent off!
Ramen 101 is located just off Highway 880 at the Greenhouse Marketplace.
