Has anybody ever seen theirself in the driver’s side seat, planning where their next destination is? If one hasn’t, why not? Is it a part of procrastination or just something that has crossed one’s mind? As many are growing older many look for some kind of independence. Driving is a privileged independence that has to be earned. Would anybody be up for that challenge? It isn’t as hard as it may seem.
At the age of 15 1/2 -17 1/2 they can start on your Driver’s Education. There are around 10 lessons based on which website one will use. It will cost up to $25. Some charge more, and seem a bit stingy. If they are lucky they would be able to find the free website out of the bunch. The lessons tend to seem very long. Just make sure to pay attention to most, and get to know what each lesson is about. You can skim through the lessons as well. At the end of every lesson you must take a test. They are multiple choice questions. On the test they give unlimited attempts to pass. Some websites need 75% answers correct to pass each lesson. At the end of your lessons there will be a final test. Honestly, I am able to take the final test and the little tests on the Driver’s Education. Although, on the Knowledge test one must know the topics. There will not be any cheating allowed taking the Knowledge Test.
Before explaining the knowledge test one must know some steps before any can even take it. After finishing the final test on your Driver’s Education, one must apply for a Driver’s License on the DMV website. Your guardian must sign for this application. When completing the Driver’s education and submission of the application for a Driver’s License, one must wait for the certification of completion (The Driver’s Education) before even taking the knowledge test. When the certificate is received, plan to make an appointment.
Getting your appointment set gives you time to prepare. When setting up the appointment there will be two options of the location of the test. You can do this in person or at home. When you take the Knowledge Test at home you must have the following: a laptop with a webcam. Doing it at home allows payment for the test online. The fee for taking your test is $45. Even when taking the at home test you would still need to go in person, so they can take the following: a photo, proof of residency, proof of identification, test your vision, and lastly provide a thumbprint. When you want to take it in person it is the exact same steps without having to come back another time after finishing your test. In person they give the option of doing it on paper or online.
Remember to study for your knowledge test. An app you can download is “CA DMV Test” on your app store. Starting the Driver’s Education as soon as possible allows the ability to miss more questions. At certain ages the amount of missed questions you are allowed are limited. If you are 15 1/2-16 you can miss 8 questions. When you are 17 the amount of mistakes you can make are only 6.
When you complete those steps you can take a sigh of relief. Now you can move to the fun parts! When you pass your Knowledge Test you must wait 6 months before taking your Behind-The-Wheel Driving Test. Before you can even take it you must complete 6 hours of driving lessons. The costs of the lessons tend to vary. They can go from 340-600. Completing your driving lessons is a must. Before being able to take the Behind-The-Wheel Test. The completion of your driving lessons allow you to understand certain roads or the way a person drives. If you want to get to know somebody. Look at their driving!
