The San Leandro High Basketball team took on St. Mary’s College High School for the “Hoops and Hype Community Night” on Dec. 3. The community night offered free admission and was open to friends and family. It gave the people of San Leandro an opportunity to explore the new gym that opened in October while also showcasing the boys varsity basketball team.
A large crowd attended this basketball game to help support the boys varsity team. To kick off the event, the band and cheerleaders performed, getting everyone excited for the game.
“I had a good time; the gym has a lot of space for everyone. The grand opening was good and I liked that the band came out and played,” said Lemaj Roach, 12, a San Leandro High student who attended the game. “The cheer performance was good and the game was entertaining, even though we lost.”
