San Leandro High Red Cross club is holding its annual blood drive this December 11th, in the FTK gym, in collaboration with the American Red Cross. President of the Red Cross Club, BaoChau Le, has lots of hope and determination regarding the event.
“We have the support from ASB and we hope for other clubs to promote our blood drive so we could bring the school together in support,” said President Le.
Fearless donors are taking time out of their schedules to donate just a pint that could help many! Donors are rewarded with helping a patient in need of a blood fusion, as well as a $50 or $25 gift card and Red Cross merch!
Volunteers are vital to this drive, as they are the ones running around, distributing snacks and making sure the donors are alright. Le is feeling confident with all the support from her officers, club advisor and the ASB.
“I’m hopeful that many teachers and many students will volunteer and donate,” Le said.
By contributing to this blood drive, donors will be helping patients of all ages who were in accidents, patients that need an organ transplant and those fighting cancer. Sandy Situ, Secretary of the Red Cross Club believes it is a great cause to be a part of as it is another way of giving back to the community.
“How donating helps: every pint of blood donated can save up to 3 lives!” said Situ.
The Red Cross Club is doing all in their power with the American Red Cross to help those patients, and you can too.
Students and staff interested in donating blood can contact the Red Cross Club and fill out the sign up form! Requirements must be 16 years or older, and 110 lbs! If you’re 16 years old, you need to have your parent/guardian sign a waiver!
