Students at San Leandro High looking to go to college sometimes wonder about how they’re going to pay for college. That changes with California Scholarship Foundation (CSF), which could help them pay less or none at all.
“It’s about helping them move forward, whether that’s getting into college or just feeling recognized for their effort. We also try to stay active in the community through volunteering and fundraising so it’s not just about grades, it’s about giving back too,” said Pearson.
CSF recognizes students who go above and beyond, rewarding academic excellence and dedication. CSF’s mission goes beyond just awards and recognition.
“Our main goal with CSF is to give back as much as we can while also supporting students who work hard in school. We really want to provide scholarships for underprivileged students who are doing their best academically but might not have the same opportunities as others,” said Pearson.
CSF gives out scholarships to help students pay for college and reach their goals. To earn one, members need to keep good grades and stay involved both in and out of school.
“To be eligible for these, you want to have A’s and B’s, be involved, and apply for membership every semester,” said Pearson.
By excelling in their studies, students can have eligibility for scholarships that’ll open new doors and opportunities for their future.
“Honestly, what really stood out to me was the mission behind it. The whole nonprofit is focused on giving back to the community, and I thought that was really cool. It’s not just about getting something for yourself, it’s about being part of something that helps others,” said Pearson.
