Class/School Announcements
Pirates!! Spring is here and the weather’s heating up — let’s bring that same energy to getting to class on time. Starting this week, tardy sweeps are back, so don’t get caught slipping. Stay on point, stay moving, and be where you’re supposed to be!
Student & Staff IDs: Beginning today, Monday, March 23, all students and staff must have their SLHS ID accessible and visible at all times, and be prepared to show it when entering campus. If students need a new ID, please see Ms. Maharaj in the Student Bank.
PIRATES! The games continue TODAY! Come to the QUAD during lunch to watch the Olympics, today will be a game of Trivia. MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN!
Juniors and Seniors! Are you interested in being a Camp Counselor for James Madison’s science camp? Email Ms. King at jking@slusd or Come to Ms. King’s Room 215 to learn more! Forms will be due by Tuesday, March 24.
Pirates, did you know that food waste is a major cause of our hot winters? When food rots, it releases methane—a greenhouse gas 28 times more powerful than carbon dioxide. Let’s protect our community by saving fresh food!

College and Career Announcements
Seniors, the application for Laney College and the other Peralta colleges (Merritt, College of Alameda, and Berkeley City) is now open! Come to the College and Career Center to get help applying and to finish your financial aid applications. Apply soon so that you will get your pick of classes and programs!

Club and Academy Announcement
The Spring Musical, “The Little Mermaid” will play again in the AEC March 27-29. Join us for some “Under the Sea” fun! Tickets are available at the door or at sanleandropac.com. See you there! We also would like to give a big congratulation to Dr. Smart for completing her dissertation and receiving a doctorate in educational leadership for k-12. We are all so honored and proud and cheering her on!

Julianna Morales is a senior and editor-in-chief in the Journalism 2 Honors class. Julianna loves the yearbook/ journalism program here at San Leandro High and plans on majoring in communications/ journalism in college. A fun fact about Julianna is that she has been playing softball since she was four years old, and has been on the San Leandro High Varsity Softball team for all 4 years.
