“Last year I failed a big math test, and it really messed up my confidence. I didn’t think I could catch up. I had to ask for help, which I don’t usually like doing, but I ended up improving a lot by the end of the semester. I learned to not be afraid of asking for help. I’m in dual enrollment through SOHS, and with that I can get college credit, so I’m doing early childhood development. I’m also in EAOP, which is to learn more about college stuff. Something I’m really passionate about outside of school is walking. I really like walking because of all the benefits whether it’s emotional, physical, or reducing risk for the future. My friends would describe me as a really kind, chill girl. I’m always there to listen to people’s problems and help them feel better about their situation. I felt really connected to people during our school’s key information sessions and rallies. We were just real with each other, no pressure. The rallies also make me feel connected. There’s a lot of games and fun stuff, and I think it shows how we are as students. I learned I’m stronger than I think. Don’t let one failure define you.”
