This year’s Chinese Lunar New year took place on February 17, 2026, marking the transition from the year of the snake to the year of the horse. In celebration of the new year, San Leandro High hosted an event held in the Main Campus cafeteria on February 12, from 5-7PM, according to Mandarin teacher Jonathan Fall.Â
The event was organized by the San Leandro High Asian Student Association in conjunction with teachers, Mr. Fall and Ms. Wong. A $5 fee was charged upon entry to cover the cost of food, games, karaoke and more which were provided to guests, according to Fall.
