On Thursday March 5, 2026, the award-winning author and SLUSD Bilingual Educator, Carolina Ixta, will be on campus for a presentation during second period and an author roundtable discussion on her latest novel, Few Blue Skies, during fourth period. The presentation will take place in the AEC while the roundtable discussion will be in the library, according to Parent Square.Â
In order to attend you must sign up on the google form and fill out a permission slip linked on the Parent Square message sent out Feb. 23, 2026. The permission slip is due on Tuesday, Mar. 2 and should be returned to Ms. Sasaki in the library, according to the Parent Square.Â
The book Few Blue Skies features a teen who works to protect her community and family from a major corporation taking over her town. This story is deeply emotional and authentic, according to starred reviews from Kirkus Reviews. Some students will have the chance to receive a copy of Few Blue Skies, stated by the Parent Square message. Â
