Varsity Girls Golf Co-Captain Junior Susan Rashid is a very busy person, managing school and athletics. After a long day of golf practice, she gets home late, eats, takes a shower, studies and gets all her homework done before finally going to bed for the next day.
For Rashid, that success is simply a result of commitment.
“I’ve just kind of been devoting a lot of my hours and time to golf, like showing up to every practice, going to every varsity game,” Rashid said.
Rashid noted that time management and communication is a key part of being a successful student-athlete, she works towards accomplishing that.
“I think definitely time-management because golf is a really big commitment. I think as with any sport,” Rashid said. “Also communication with the rest of my teammates [is important].”

Her involvement in golf began in middle school, inspired by her dad. Consistency has been her focus ever since then.
“I think my dad kind of got me into it in middle school,” Rashid said. “Ever since then, I’ve just been keeping consistent with it.”
Then she got the news about Athlete of the Month.
“I was a bit shocked and surprised because the season already ended and I didn’t really talk to my teammates, so when I got the email, I was kind of excited,” Rashid said.
Her journey is definitely not over as she has ideal goals set for her future.
“I’m trying to get a new PR [personal record],” Rashid said. “I currently PR this year, but I’m trying to score even lower next year.”
