There have been many show adaptations from book to series or movies through the years, most of them getting bad or good opinions from the public. After almost 13 years of his first Percy Jackson movie, Rick Riordan decided to help and join Disney to create the well known series, Percy Jackson & The Olympians in 2022. This series provides more information and details from both movies and the books.
The Percy Jackson & The Olympians series is a fantasy book created by Rick Riordan. It follows the Greek mythology that is taught in schools but with the author’s own characters. The book and series’ main characters are Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase and Grover. As we see in the first movie, it is similar to the book but not entirely the same. In season one, Jackson finally discovers why he is different from the other kids at his school and his best friend Grover isn’t who he really says he is. As he arrives at camp-half blood, a camp for demigod children, he refuses to stay there as he wants to go help his mother. In doing so, one of Zeus’ prize possessions gets stolen and all eyes point at Jackson since Poseidon (Jackson’s father) and Zeus have been arguing for centuries. This war between the Gods not only affects the world but their children as well causing Percy, Annabeth and Grover to go on a quest and retrieve it. They were faced with many challenges, like figuring out lies and truths they did not know, as well as facing someone they never thought they would face during this war. This was a stark but similar contrast from the movies.
The last episode of season one dropped in 2024, and they also filmed season two that year. Season two dropped Dec. 2025 and ended mid January of this year, 2026. There were a lot of different opinions on it as season two is full of more danger, a bit of teen romance and lots of fighting scenes. We see the cast of children mature and realize that they’re fighting more for the future children in camp half blood than themselves. This season has really shown how they have matured and how they will continue to do so in upcoming seasons. More of their feelings for each other grow as well as them picking sides and realizing truths about them and their families.
Season two deserves 4.5/5 stars because of the way they changed some scenes but stuck to the original stories and plotlines. They had really good ideas to input into the series itself in replacement to book scenes.
